The Blessing of Wisdom
1 My son, don’t forget my teaching. Remember what I tell you to do. 2 What I teach will give you a good, long life, and all will go well for you. 3 Don’t ever let love and loyalty leave you. Tie them around your neck, and write them on your heart. 4 Then God will be pleased and think well of you and so will everyone else. 5 Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. 6 With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. 7 Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil. 8 If you do this, it will be like a refreshing drink and medicine for your body. 9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and the first part of your harvest. 10 Then your barns will be full of grain, and your barrels will be overflowing with wine. 11 My son, don’t reject the Lord’S discipline, and don’t be angry when he corrects you. 12 The Lord corrects the one he loves, just as a father corrects a child he cares about. 13 Those who find wisdom are fortunate; they will be blessed when they gain understanding. 14 Profit that comes from wisdom is better than silver and even the finest gold. 15 Wisdom is worth more than fine jewels. Nothing you desire has more value. 16 With her right hand, Wisdom offers long life—with the other hand, riches and honor. 17 Wisdom will lead you to a life of joy and peace. 18 Wisdom is like a life-giving tree to those who hold on to her; she is a blessing to those who keep her close. 19 With wisdom and understanding, the Lord created the earth and sky. 20 With his knowledge, he made the oceans and the clouds that produce rain. 21 My son, don’t ever let wisdom out of your sight. Hold on to wisdom and careful planning. 22 They will bring you a long life filled with honor. 23 As you go through life, you will always be safe and never fall. 24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you rest, your sleep will be peaceful. 25 You have no reason to fear a sudden disaster or the destruction that comes to the wicked. 26 You can trust the Lord to protect you. He will not let you fall into harm. 27 Do everything you possibly can for those who need help. 28 If your neighbor needs something you have, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow.” Give it to him immediately. 29 Don’t make plans to harm your neighbor, who lives near you and trusts you. 30 Don’t take people to court without good reason, especially when they have done nothing to harm you. 31 Don’t envy those who are violent. Never choose to be like them. 32 Such crooked people are disgusting to the Lord. But he is a friend to those who are good and honest. 33 The Lord curses a wicked family, but he blesses the homes of those who live right. 34 He will humiliate those who make fun of others, but he is kind to those who are humble. 35 The way the wise live will bring them honor, but the way fools live will bring them shame.

1 나의 아들아, 내가 가르친 것을 잊지마라. 2 내가 가르친 것이 좋은 삶과 장수를 줄 것이며, 너를 위해 모든 것이 잘 될 것이다. 3 사랑과 충실함이 너를 떠나지 않게 하라. 그것들을 너의 목 주위에 붙들어 매고, 너의 마음에 새겨라. 4 그리하며 하나님꼐서 기뻐하실 것이요, 너를 기쁘게 여기실 것이며 그 밖에 너의 모든 것을 좋게 여기시리라. 5 여호와 하나님을 온전히 신뢰하고 네 자신의 지식에 의존하지 말라. 6 네가 걸을 때마다 하나님께서 원하시는 것을 생각하라. 그리하면 네가 옳은 길로 가는 것을 도우시리라. 7 네 자신의 지혜를 신뢰하지 말라. 그러나 하나님을 경외하고 악으로부터 멀리 떠나라. 8 네가 이렇게 한다면, 이것은 네 몸을 회복시키는 물이요 약과 같다. 9 네 재물과 너의 추수한 첫 소산으로 하나님을 섬기라. 10 그리하면 네 곡간이 곡물로 가득 찰 것이요, 너의 술통이 포도주로 넘쳐 흐를 것이다. 11 나의 아들아, 여호와 하나님의 훈계를 거역하지 말라, 하나님께서 너를 훈계할 때 노여워 말라. 12 아비가 그가 돌보는 아이를 훈계하듯이 하나님꼐서는 그를 사랑하는 자를 훈계하신다 . 13 지혜를 찾는 자들은 행복하다.: 그들이 명철을 얻을 때 축복받을 것이다. 14 지혜로부터 나온 유익이 은이나 정금보다 낫다. 15 지혜는 정결한 보석보다 귀하다. 네가 바라는 그 무엇도 더 귀한 것은 없다. 16 그의 의로운 오른손으로 장수를 줄 것이며-그의 의로운 오른손으로 부와 명예를 줄 것이다. 17 지혜는 너를 기쁨과 평화의 삶 가운데로 인도할 것이다. 18 지혜는 지혜를 잡고있는 자들에게 생명나무와 같다; 지혜는 지혜와 가까이 하는 자들에게 축복이다. 19 지혜와 명철로 여호와 하나님께서는 땅과 하늘을 만드셨다. 20 그의 지식으로 큰 바다와 비를 내리는 구름을 만드셨다. 21 지혜가 너의 시야를 벗어나지 않게 하라. 지혜와 주의깊은 계획을 유지해라. 22 그것들이 너에게 명예로 가득찬 장수를 가져다 줄 것이다. 23 네가 살아가면서 항상 안전할 것이며 절대 실패하지 않을 것이다. 24 네가 누을 때 두렵지 않을 것이며, 네가 잠잘 때 평화로울 것이다. 25 너는 사악한 자들로부터 온 갑작스런 재난과 파괴에 두려워할 이유가 없다. 26 너는 너를 보호해 주시는 여호와 하나님을 신뢰해도 좋다. 그가 너를 해로움에 빠지지 않게 할 것이다. 27 도움이 필요한 자들을 위하여 네가 할 수 있는 모든것을 해라. 28 네 이웃이 네가 가진 무엇을 원한다면, "내일 다시 오라."고 말하지 말라. 그에게 즉시 주라. 29 너의 이웃을 해할 계획을 만들지 마라. 30 사람들을 합당한 이유없이 법정에 데려가지 마라. 특히, 너에게 아무런 해를 주지 않았다면 31 폭력적인 자들을 부러워하지 마라. 그들과 같이 되는 것을 선택하지 마라. 32 이렇게 비뚤어진 자들은 하나님꼐 역겨운 자들이다. 그러나 하나님꼐서는 선하고 정직한 자들의 친구이다. 33 여호와 하나님꼐서는 사악한 집을 저주하시고, 바르게 사는 집을 축복하신다. 34 하나님께서는 다른 사람을 조롱하는 자들에게 굴욕감을 주시고, 겸손한 자들에게 친절하시다. 35 지혜로운 자들이 사는 길은 그들에게 명예를 주지만, 어리석은 자들이 사는 길은 부끄러움을 가져다 준다.

TIP what는 선행사를 포함한 관계대명사로서 the thing which(that)의 의미입니다. 해석은 "~것"으로 하면 자연스럽습니다.

TIP 특히 선행사 앞에 every, all, little, any, no 등이 있으면 관계대명사는 that을 주로 씁니다. 이런 경우는
- 선행사가 "사람＋사물(동물)"일 때,
- 선행사 앞에 서수, 최상급이 있을 때,
- 선행사 앞에 the very, the same, the only등이 있을 때,

TIP hold on은 기본적으로 "~에 관하여 유지하다. 지니다. 간직하다"의 뜻인데 여기서는 지혜와 신중한 계획을 잘 보존하라는 의미로 쓰였습니다.

TIP Finish your work as soon as possible. = Finish your work as soon as you can.과 같은 원리로 보면 쉽게 해석이 됩니다.
humiliate : [34절] ' 굴욕감을 주다'

He will humiliate those who make fun of others.
다른 사람들을 조롱하는 자들에게 굴욕을 줄 것이다.
TIP 'make fun of~'는 '~을 조롱하다, 놀리다'의 뜻입니다. humilate는 '겸손'의 뜻을 나타내는 'humility'와 혼동하는 경우가 많은데 주의하시기 바랍니다.
지혜와 명철을 구하는 자들은 행복하고 아무런 걱정이 없이 살 수 있다고 약속해 주신 말씀에 감사드립니다. 세상의 부귀와 영화를 좇느라고 자신의 정력과 재력을 모두 쏟아붓고 늙어 병들어 죽어가는 인생들이 얼마나 많습니다. 영원한 생명에 대한 소망없이 이 땅에서의 순간의 편안함과 우쭐대는 음녀의 유혹에 빠져서 즐기는 삶이 아니라 지혜와 명철을 간직하고 신중하게 생각하며 유혹에 빠지지 말 것을 잠언 3장을 통해 배우게 됩니다. 여호와 하나님을 의지하고 내 자신의 인본주의적인 사고가 아니라 신본주의적인 사고를 할 때 내 삶의 풍요롭고 평안하다는 것을 깨닫게 해준 성령의 인도하심에 감사드립니다.
